Darling
02:50
|
|||
Darling, don’t you know I drive through snow and through sleet
So I can be with you, while you sleep
And pastures will roll by and on and on till the morning sun
Darling, don’t you know that Jesus died for your sins
And have you heard, me and him are friends
So if you can hold on for a little while longer he’ll get me to you
The wilderness is no match for me
I’m stronger than the bears, and taller than the trees
The eagles have eyes like mine, swim like an alligator
Darling, don’t you know that Jesus died for your sins
And have you heard that me and him are friends
So if you can hold on for a little while longer he’ll get me to you
You can’t be your maker (x3)
With me you’re so much safer
I drive through snow and through sleet
So I can be with you, while you sleep
And pastures will roll by and on and on till the morning sun

How I Got Here
02:34
|
|||
So Lucy and Mary Jane
They both turned out the same
They painted colors on the ceiling
And it’s a sign that I’ve been feeling
Pretty down
So M.J. liked to party
So she talked to her friend Molly
And then Molly taught me
How to dance
They called me Neil Armstrong
‘Cause I floated there so long
The world was just a snowglobe
And the road stretched to kingdom come
Someone said this party’s lame
I don’t recall their name
But I guess they had a point
Cause M.J. said, "Let’s blow this joint.”
and we did
So Lucy and Mary Jane
They both turned out the same
They painted colors on the ceiling
And it’s a sign that I’ve been feeling
Pretty down

The Hillside
03:08
|
|||
Took my mother to a hillside
In the overgrown grave site
Condescending trees loomed and stared
I swear the trees were colder than the air
La la la la la la la la la (x2)
Took the rusted van down south
To the edge of the hungry gulch’s mouth
You kissed me on the forehead
And you said
Darling I promise you’ll survive
La la la la la la la la la (x6)
Baby I’ll hold you in my arms
With me you have my word, you won’t be harmed (x2)

Grow Old
02:50
|
|||
Ever since I was younger, I didn’t want
To waste my time with, girls who couldn’t love
But honey since you came around, I’m on fire
And if I didn’t say I love you too, I’d be a liar
I hope I grow old with you
And I hope you want to grow old with me too
If I were a betting man, I’d bet my life
On the likelihood of me asking you, to be my wife
I can see it all before my eyes, it’s a beautiful sight
Our kids playing in the front yard, what a wonderful life
I hope I grow old with you
And I hope you want to grow old with me too
I want to wrap you in my arms and hold you oh so tight
Til the lord grants us our last breath of life
I hope I grow old with you
And I hope you want to grow old with me too

Dirty Bones
03:19
|
|||
Father once told me
You better do what I say
Cause I wont be around much longer
Youll be the man of the house some day
It was a dark and rainy afternoon
Daddy he took his last breath
And with it he said,
He said I’ll see you after death (x 2)
Your casket is now your home
Maybe if I was younger, I’d miss your dirty bones
The birth of your baby, life begins
I forgive you mother, it’s not just father who has sinned
Little bastard child, I’ve become
I didn’t know my mother and she didn’t know her son
All these things pertain to me
So that I can protect the ones who betrayed me
Your casket is now your home
Maybe if I was younger, I’d miss your dirty bones
The birth of your baby, life begins
I forgive you mother, it’s not just father who has sinned
